Chakra colors: Know their benefits and why Pranic healers use them for healing

Posted by Rosetta Jermain

Most people have heard of the concept of negative or positive energy that influences them and their wellbeing. It’s not uncommon for people to talk about bad energy in a certain place and the amazing energy of another. You would be surprised to know that energy has color/s and this determines whether it is “negative energy” or “positive energy”.

Chakras, which are the energy centers of the body, also have specific colors. This is based on the chakras’ functions, properties, and the organs it controls. For example, root chakra which is the center of self-survival has red color prana. Red is the color of action and aptly defines the root chakra, the center for dynamic activities.

Chakras and their dominant colors are a known secret. This forms the basis for several healing modalities. For example, those who use crystals, rely on similar colored stones or similar emanations, like that of the chakra being healed, to balance them. Those who work with color therapy use water powered by certain colors, clothes of certain colors, etc to balance the chakras.

Chakras and the properties of their colors have been explained in great detail by Pranic Healing. The founder of Pranic Healing, Master Choa Kok Sui conducted experiments for several years to understand these properties and how to use them for healing. He also explains which colors should not be used simultaneously and which colors to be used for delicate and non-delicate organs and which colors to be used for regeneration. Yes, you read it right, regeneration!

Pranic healing is a powerful energy healing modality and has been used successfully for recovery from physical and psychological ailments. As part of the healing process, you learn the properties of color prana and which chakra produces the colors you need.

Why are colors associated with chakras?

Chakras are energy vortices that regulate the flow of life force energy in the physical body. This is the vital energy that we need for the existence of the body. It is also known by many other names like “prana”, “ki”, “Chi” etc.

Energy is classified by colors, hence the color association with chakras. The kind of energy stored in chakras is determined by the function that is performed by that specific chakra. If the chakra is a higher chakra like the crown chakra, energy of higher vibration would be stored here. On the other hand, the basic chakra that works on basic needs of sustenance and material well-being would have grosser energy stored there. The colors in root chakra or sex chakra would therefore be grosser.

While some of us may be able to feel the energy, there are those who can also see energy. The vibration of the energy determines its color. The energy of higher emotions like love is said to be lighter in color. The energy of lower emotions like anger or jealousy may be darker.

There are noteworthy writers like Charles Leadbeater who have written extensively on the color of the energy that is produced by different emotions and chakras.

Chakra colors and meaning

Chakras have physical, emotional, and mental functions. Owing to this they practically determine our personality. By making a change to the chakra we can make a change to our life.

The following describes chakra colors and their meaning:

Root Chakra

This chakra contains a lot of red color, energizing the muscular-skeletal system and providing strength to the physical body. It is also responsible for the fulfillment of the material needs of a person. Red is the color of power and action and propels the chakra to do the same.

Sex Chakra

This chakra contains a lot of orange, energizing the sexual organs and reproductive system. Orange color indicates fertility which is also the function of this chakra.

Solar Plexus Chakra

This chakra contains a lot of yellow, energizing the digestive organs of the body. It also stores emotions like ambition, courage, envy, pride, etc. The color yellow symbolizes warmth and happiness, just like this chakra when in balance.

Heart Chakra

This chakra contains a lot of green energizing the heart, lungs, and thymus gland. It governs emotions like love, joy, enthusiasm, grief, worry, etc. Green is a symbol of regeneration and renewal. When balanced this chakra can transform emotions into happier ones.

Throat Chakra

This chakra contains blue, energizing the throat, voice box, larynx, and pharynx. It governs qualities of analytical thinking, communication, and creativity. When balanced it can make a person peaceful and tranquil, just like the color blue.

Ajna Chakra

This chakra contains indigo, energizing the pituitary gland, endocrine glands, nose, and eyes. It is the center for wisdom and higher will. Indigo color is the color of spirituality, making it an apt color for the ajna chakra.

Crown Chakra

This chakra contains the color violet or purple energizing the brain and pineal gland. It is an important center for illumination and psychic faculties. Purple color is associated with royalty, wisdom, and spirituality just like this chakra.

What chakra is green associated with?

Chakra balancing is an ancient science. This is done essentially by aligning the energy flow in the chakra. When a chakra is misaligned, it also changes color, and as a result, cannot work to its full potential.

The heart chakra is associated with the color green. This is because the heart chakra has a lot of green energy or prana. A chakra as stated earlier has predominantly a specific color based on its own properties. Heart chakra controls feelings of love, joy, enthusiasm, zeal, compassion on one hand, and on the other, it also stores emotions of grief, apathy, hurt, etc.

This chakra is transformational in the sense that it can convert emotions. By opening this chakra one can transform or renew the emotions of grief, worry, anger, hatred to love, gentleness, patience, understanding, and forgiveness.

This is what the color green signifies, transformation, renewal, and peace. As per Master Choa Kok Sui, if the heart chakra is bigger than the solar plexus chakra, the person would be able to love others and think of collective interest instead of just his own. Such a person will have the ability to forgive and let go.  Happiness and peace just become a by-product, as a result.

Red chakra color meaning

Colors are often used for the energy and “feel” they bring. For example, when we see yellow in a children’s nursery it can bring a feeling of buoyancy and happiness. This tends to happen due to the energy that the color carries.

Action and materialism are symbolized by the red chakra color. Red has a strong connection with the earth element. This would bring qualities of practicality, dynamism, the pursuit of material things to name a few. The energy of the red color is grosser which means the particles are bigger in size. This also determines the functions performed by it.

Basic chakra has a lot of red-colored energy. This makes it the center for the instinct of self-survival and self-preservation. On the physical level, the basic chakra energizes the muscular-skeletal system, controls the production of blood in the bone marrow, and general vitality and strength of the body.

Master Choa Kok Sui through his experiments and the detailed study revealed red prana has the ability to strengthen, expand, dilate, stimulate, activate the part of the human body it is applied to. It can also improve circulation and is warming for the body. Therefore, it is actively used in Pranic Healing for paralytic patients, allergies, arthritis, spine and blood ailments, asthma, etc.

Chakra healing apart from physical, emotional, and mental functions also has spiritual functions. If you are looking at spiritual advancement, it would be an important step to balance your chakras.

Crown chakra is sometimes referred to as purple chakra. This is due to the presence of purple or violet color in this chakra. This chakra is a very important center for illumination, cosmic consciousness, and the development of psychic abilities. When in balance this chakra imparts the qualities of wisdom, sharp intellect, intuition, emotional sensitivity in the form of kindness and love, etc.

On the physical front, this chakra energizes the brain and the pineal gland. This makes it an important chakra for all neurological and psychological ailments. It can help in the healing of disorders like trauma, fear or phobias, obsessive behavior, addictions, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, stroke, etc.

Pranic Healing has proved to be very effective in healing physical as well as psychological ailments. This is one of the reasons it spread to over 90 countries across the world. Conclusion

The fact that energy has color and that colors are determined by the quality of energy can explain why emotions impact our health. The emotions of anger, hatred, envy have deeper grosser colors whereas the energy of positive emotions like love, hope, intelligence has lighter color. If we continue to harbor negative thoughts, the energy in our chakras also starts to get impacted.

The idea that colors have healing energy is truly path-breaking. If you understand the properties of colors correctly, you can make a lot of difference to yourself and those around you. This understanding can also help you impact relationships, money, your professional life, etc.
