Heal your Fear through Healing on these Chakras

Posted by Gabriella Jacob

Fear can be defined as a feeling of being afraid of someone or something. It is a natural emotion that protects people from harm when they face real and imminent danger. Fear often stems from a real threat but there are times when it can be from imaginary danger as well.

Chakras are energy centers which regulate the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual functions of the body. By virtue of regulating their functioning one can significantly control physical and psychological ailments in the human body. Chakra healing works on removing diseased or stagnated energy from these energy centers to allow free flow of energy. Because the energy body and physical body are interrelated, one has an impact on the other. With the healing of chakras both body and mind can be harmonized and balanced.

Understanding Fear

Fear is a natural, powerful and primitive human emotion. It's built into every human being to help them survive and protect against imminent danger. There are various kinds of fears.

Rational fear

Rational fears occur where there is a real, imminent threat. If someone is brandishing a gun at you, the fear of being shot is a rational fear. Fear of death is rational. Fear of calamities is a rational fear. Being in a new country can sometimes invoke fear.

Primal Fear

Primal fear is defined as an innate fear that is programmed into our brains. These are fears like arachnophobia (fear of spiders) or ophidiophobia (fear of snakes). They are natural fears because of human evolution. A human that was afraid of snakes was less likely to be bitten by one than the human who wasn’t, therefore humans with a healthy fear had a higher survival rate.

Irrational Fear

Irrational fears are the ones that don’t make logical sense and can vary greatly from person to person. One half of your brain is scared, and the other half doesn’t understand why. These are fears like coulrophobia (fear of clowns) and phasmophobia (fear of ghosts). Of the three basic types of fear, irrational fears are the easiest, and most fun, to exploit.

Phobias

Fear can be good as well as bad. While fear is largely for self-preservation, sometimes excessive fear may create hindrances in leading a happy life.

A phobia is an excessive fear or anxiety related to specific objects or situations that are out of proportion to the actual danger they present.

When a person has a phobia, they will often try to avoid situations or experiences that bring them face to face with the phobia. The imagined threat is greater than any actual threat posed by the cause of terror.

Phobias are diagnosable mental disorders.

The person will experience intense discomfort when faced with the source of their phobia. This can prevent them from functioning normally and sometimes even leads to panic attacks.

The Most Common specific Phobias include:

• Claustrophobia: Fear of being in constricted, confined spaces

• Aerophobia: Fear of flying

• Arachnophobia: Fear of spiders

• Driving phobia: Fear of driving a car

• Emetophobia: Fear of vomiting

• Erythrophobia: Fear of blushing

• Hypochondria: Fear of becoming ill

• Zoophobia: Fear of animals

• Aquaphobia: Fear of water

• Acrophobia: Fear of heights

• Blood, injury, and injection (BII) phobia: Fear of injuries involving blood

• Escalaphobia: Fear of escalators

• Tunnel phobia: Fear of tunnels

Treatment

Phobias are highly treatable, and people who have them are nearly always aware of their disorder. This helps diagnosis a great deal.

Speaking to a psychologist or psychiatrist is a useful first step in treating a phobia that has already been identified.

If the phobia does not cause severe problems, most people find that simply avoiding the source of their fear helps them stay in control. Many people with specific phobias will not seek treatment as these fears are often manageable.

It is not possible to avoid the triggers of some phobias, as is often the case with complex phobias. In these cases, speaking to a mental health professional can be the first step to recovery.

Most phobias can be cured with appropriate treatment. There is no single treatment that works for every person with a phobia. Treatment needs to be tailored to the individual for it to work.

The doctor, psychiatrist, or psychologist may recommend behavioral therapy, medications, or a combination of both. Therapy is aimed at reducing fear and anxiety symptoms and helping people manage their reactions to the object causing fear.

Chakra as A Concept

Chakras are energy centers that regulate the flow of energy in living beings. This energy is that vital force that keeps us alive and flows through every cell of our body. This is invisible to the physical eye as it exists in ether or etheric form, however, smooth flow of energy is the very essence of our existence. Energy doesn’t just flow within our body but also around our body. Surrounding our physical body is an energy body, or energy counterpart commonly called aura. Chakras are also existing in energy form like round discs that are constantly taking in energy from the environment and throwing out used-up energy from the body.

A healthy body is the one where the flow of energy is unhindered and the chakras perform their activities freely, however there are times when blockages get created in chakras which results in disease for the body. These blockages could be due to various factors which can be internal or external.

External factors include the food we consume, an accident or physical injury. Internal factors largely include our thoughts, our conditioning and attitude.

Chakras have physical functions i.e. they regulate our body and its organs and also emotional functions i.e. how do we deal with emotional stimuli. They also determine our mental functions and intelligence - the ability to retain, grasp, process and interpret information. Chakras are able to do this because the physical body has a direct correlation with the energy body. Whatever happens in one will also happen in the other.

This understanding can be used to bring about a healing for physical and psychological ailments.

Relationship between Chakra and Emotions

We now understand chakras have psychological functions because they govern our emotional and mental makeup. Let's try to understand how – thoughts like chakras exist in energy form. Unless a clairvoyant most of us cannot see them, but we all vouch for their existence. Our thoughts impact the state of our chakras and our chakras impact our thoughts, both are interdependent. One can work on fear and phobias not only through therapy but also by tackling them through chakra healing.

Chakra Healing for Psychological Ailments

Pranic Healing, a form of chakra healing, shows a very systematic way of doing it. According to it, thoughts are living beings and if you can disintegrate them you can cease them from existing. Thoughts get stored up into chakras. From the time of our birth till date we constantly store up emotions, experiences and memories in them.

However, thought forms can be altered by removing them from the chakras and one can get rid of associated traumas, fears and phobias. While a very revolutionary concept, Pranic healing has been used successfully by and on several patients to help get rid of fears and traumas.

The Science behind Chakra Healing

The science behind it is that negative thoughts of fear, phobia, or a negative incident get lodged deep into the chakras but can be flushed out using certain potent color prana/energy. This fresh energy can be projected to help the emotions and mind heal. This can bring about a deep and lasting relief to the one suffering. Pranic healing has been known to help victims of accidents, people with phobia of flying, water, etc to come out of it and lead a normal life.
