Chakra Diseases: Cause, effects and techniques to overcome suffering

Posted by Gabriella Jacob

Chakras and subtle energies are often thought to be concepts of the East. However, they are universal and exist for all. They are a strong force governing the physical and emotional health of a person.

Blockages in chakras result in disease. The disease can be physical, psychological, or both. Blockages in chakras can be for several reasons including prolonged negative emotions brought on by stress and vagaries of daily life, improper or negative attitude, incorrect lifestyle, incorrect eating, etc.

The role of chakras is to govern proper energy flow or “prana” or “chi” in the body. Each chakra controls a group of organs and ensures energy is flowing to them. This energy is different from physical energy and is the vital force that keeps us alive.

When chakras develop blockages, the flow of energy gets disrupted. The organs or part of the body that gets deprived of fresh energy then develops illness first. The disease first shows in the energy body and then manifests as physical or psychological sickness.

Energy blockages in one chakra will also impact other chakras gradually. It is like, if one department in an organization doesn’t work effectively, gradually the impact will be seen on the other teams also.

To give an example, if the solar plexus malfunctions and the absorption of nutrients are impacted, there may be an impact on other organ functions of the body. There may be low immunity and energy levels in the body, impacting the basic chakra. This can also result in a seasonal cold or even flu, impacting several other chakras.

Which chakra is related to health?

Chakras along with physical functions also have emotional and mental functions. Well harmonized chakras bring about good physical and mental health.

All chakras are related to health. Each chakra has a role to play by governing a specific function. Also, chakras work in unison. A chakra blocked in one part of the body may create energy imbalances in other parts as well. Therefore, they will all need to be balanced to ensure the wellbeing of the entire body.

Most schools talk about 7 major chakras. Let’s look at what happens when they malfunction:

  • Basic Chakra
Malfunctioning of basic or root chakra results in problems with the muscular-skeletal system and overall strength and vitality of the body. Eg includes arthritis, spinal problems, rheumatism, problems of bones, etc.
  • Sex Chakra
Malfunctioning of this energy center impacts the male and female sex organs. This could result in impotence, frigidity, sterility, dysmenorrhea, ovarian cyst, myoma, enlarged prostate, etc.
  • Solar Plexus Chakra
Malfunctioning of this chakra results in digestive ailments like bloating, constipation, diarrhea, acidity, stomach ulcers, etc.
  • Heart Chakra
Malfunctioning of this chakra results in heart problems like heart attack, cardiac arrhythmias, enlarged heart, etc.
  • Throat Chakra
Imbalance here manifests as sore throat, tonsillitis, loss of voice, stammering, etc.
  • Ajna Chakra
Improper functioning here results in problems with eyes, sinuses, nose, and endocrine glands. Eg cancer, eye problems, etc.
  • Crown Chakra
Disturbances here could result in problems with the brain and pineal gland. Mental illnesses are often a result of an imbalance of crown chakra.

Immunity is an important factor in helping maintain good health, especially during the current pandemic. Immunity booster of any kind can come in handy to combat illness and also in recovery.

Basic chakra is related to immunity. This chakra is important for vitality, vigor, and physical energy in the human body. With strong basic chakra, a person may not succumb easily to intruders like germs, bacteria, and viruses. And even if this happens, the recovery is very quick.

As we age the basic chakra may get weaker. This is the reason children recover much faster than older people in their families. For example, a young child with a fracture would recover much before his older grandfather.

Solar Plexus also impacts our immunity. This center stores our negative emotions like anger, hatred, revenge, jealousy, etc. These emotions impact the physical body, making it weaker and susceptible to chronic disease. It’s easier for a person to get sick when they are going through stress or emotional problems.

This is perhaps one of the biggest reasons for most illnesses, whether it’s related to the heart, digestion, brain, etc. Holding emotional stress, anger, grief, etc. for a prolonged period of time, impacts the physical body.

Which organs are connected to each chakra?

Chakra regulates the flow of energy to organs. Organs get their energy through a network of “nadis” or meridians. Energy imbalances hamper organ functions.

Organs closest to the chakra are connected to it. Let’s look at which internal organs are regulated by each chakra:

  • Basic Chakra
Basic chakra regulates the muscular-skeletal system, the spine, the adrenal glands, and the overall vitality of the body.
  • Sex Chakra
Sex chakra governs the sexual organs including ovaries and testes in the human body. It also controls the urinary bladder and urethra.
  • Solar Plexus Chakra
This chakra regulates the digestive organs including the stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and large and small intestines to a great extent.
  • Heart Chakra
This chakra regulates the physical heart, the lungs, and the thymus gland.
  • Throat Chakra
The throat chakra regulates all the organs in the throat including the larynx, pharynx, windpipe, and thyroid glands.
  • Ajna Chakra
This chakra regulates all the chakras of the body. It also regulates the nose, eyes, sinuses, pituitary gland, and endocrine glands.
  • Crown Chakra
Crown regulates the brain and the pineal gland. Along with this, it energizes the complete body.

How do you know if a chakra is blocked?

Chakras can get blocked due to various reasons. Quite often it is due to our attitude, emotional makeup, mindset, and lifestyle.

Personality traits and behaviors indicate blocked chakra. It is also apparent from the kind of disorder/s we suffer from. Let’s look at the impact of each blocked chakra:

  • Basic Chakra
An underactive basic chakra may result in the person becoming lethargic, lazy, depressed, and unable to earn a livelihood. Overactive basic chakra would cause a person to become hyperactive, impractical, and unrealistic.
  • Sex Chakra

How to work on sacral chakra?

Chakras exist in energy form. The energy body which also contains our chakras surrounds the physical body. It's commonly known by the name aura. There is a strong interdependence between the two bodies, what happens in one is mirrored in the other.

Pranic healing is a very effective way to work on sacral chakra imbalance. Sacral chakra diseases are related to the reproductive system and include the reproductive organs. Pranic Healing works on the principle that the body runs on life force or energy and can heal itself.

The disease is created when energy imbalances are created due to blockages and the natural process of healing cannot take place.

Pranic Healing works by removing these energy imbalances from the energy body and chakras and then putting fresh energy, to bring about recovery. It employs a two-step process that is easy to apply and simple to learn. The first step in Pranic Healing is to remove chakra blockages and the next is to pump in fresh energy.

Most physical and psychological ailments can be treated using Pranic Healing. It is non-invasive and can be combined easily with medicines, physical therapy, and behavioral or cognitive therapy.

What does it mean when your heart chakra is blocked?

When chakras are blocked, they would show opposite qualities of what they are supposed to do. This is why we may feel out of balance.

The psychological and physical disorders of the heart are a manifestation of a blocked heart chakra. When the heart chakra is underactive it will show literally in “smallness of heart”. The person may not be generous in sharing their knowledge, material things, and even emotional comfort.

There would be difficulty in forgiving people and a tendency to hold on to past negative events. Also, there may be a lack of joy, enthusiasm, love, compassion, and kindness.

On the contrary, an overactive heart chakra would result in excessive empathy and attachment. The person may become clingy and excessively concerned. Such a person may be taken advantage of and often treated poorly. An imbalanced heart chakra would also result in heart disease and disorder of the lungs.

The result of a balanced heart chakra is the ability to love oneself and others, forgiveness, patience, understanding, and compassion. We often hear of people with a “heart of gold” and “big-hearted” people. These are examples of people with open heart chakras.

Pranic Healing can help with effectively balancing and aligning your heart chakra.
