Headache often seems like a simple condition, but it can bring everything to a standstill for some. You may have spent hours trying to study the difference between your overwhelming imagination and the actual feelings that cloud your senses when you experience vibrations of pain. Any kind of ache in the body can be frustrating and a headache though considered trivial is one the most debilitating kind, preventing you from any productive activity.
Chakras are energy centers that regulate the flow of energy in your body. This energy is the vital force that keeps us alive. Any blockages or obstruction in the flow of energy results in chakra imbalance and manifests as disease or discomfort for the body. Chakra healing helps to restore the smooth flow of energy thereby promoting physical, emotional, and mental health.
Headaches can cause a lot of discomfort for those who face them. It is also known to cause depression for people suffering from them on a regular basis or for a long time. Chakra healing can be a very effective and powerful tool to treat headaches, especially chronic ones. This technique can be applied safely in combination with medication or any other procedure.
Chakras are round disc-like vortices existing in energy form. The main purpose of chakras is to regulate energy flow throughout the body for its proper functioning. Any disruption in this flow brings about an imbalance in the body and over a period manifests as disease. For the treatment of headaches, our primary focus would be on Crown, Forehead, Ajna, and Solar Plexus chakras.
Headaches can be categorized into 2 main types – primary and secondary headaches.
· Primary headache is the kind that is not caused by another medical condition. Various factors can play a role in causing primary headaches, including chemical activity in the brain, surrounding nerves, and blood vessels, and muscles of the head and neck. The most common primary headache includes tension headache, cluster headache, migraine and migraine with aura. Some of them can be triggered by
1. Alcohol, particularly red wine
2. Certain foods, such as processed meats that contain nitrates
3. Changes in sleep or lack of sleep
4. Poor posture
5. Skipped meals
6. Stress
· Secondary headache is caused by an underlying illness that activates the pain-sensitive brain nerves. There are numerous conditions causing it, some of which include acute sinusitis, arterial tear, blood clot, brain aneurysm, brain tumor, concussion, dehydration, a dental problem, ear infection, glaucoma, hangovers, stroke, trigeminal neuralgia, etc. (Click here for the source.)
The word chakra often conjures up images of a mystic immersed deep in meditation. However contrary to the belief that chakras are relevant for only spiritual seekers, they are important for everyone. They play a significant role in regulating the physical, mental and emotional functions of the body.
To understand the concept of chakras and how they impact our health, we need to understand more about the energy body. Invisible to most people, the energy body envelops the human body. It is also known by the name “aura”. The energy body contains a network of energy channels called meridians or "nadis" and chakras. Chakras act as energy distribution centers and are located at specific points in the body along the spine. This is similar to how electricity gets distributed from power stations to our homes.
The energy body and physical body mirror each other, as a result any changes in one, results in changes in the other.
Each chakra governs a specific system/s of the body. They are multi-faceted and perform physical, mental, and emotional functions. For example, the solar plexus chakra controls all the organs responsible for breaking down food ingested by the body. At the same time, it is the seat of emotions like persistence, esteem, courage, ego, anger, anxiety, jealousy, etc.
Similarly, basic chakra (root chakra) which is known to be the seat of survival instinct also governs the muscular-skeletal system of the body.
Most texts talk about 7 major chakras - Crown Chakra, Ajna Chakra, Throat Chakra, Heart Chakra, Solar Plexus Chakra, Sacral chakra, and Root chakra, however, depending on the school of thought you follow, there may be more or less. In addition, there are minor and mini chakras that work closely on specific organs and support the major chakras.
When in balance these energy centers promote harmony in relationships, peace of mind, prosperity, and success. Higher qualities like creativity, imagination, confidence, wisdom, compassion, ability to let go and forgiveness, intuition, clarity in expression and communication, feeling of safety and security, high self-esteem get strengthened.
There are several ways to balance your energy centers. One could try yoga, practice meditation, use energy medicine, use certain crystals, etc. An advanced form of chakra healing technique is taught in Pranic Healing. It is based on the principle that the body has the innate intelligence to heal itself. Pranic healing aims at expediting this process of self-healing by bringing in balance in energy flow.
The first step in this process is called cleansing the chakra, the intention here is to remove blockages or imbalances. This restores the smooth flow of energy. Subsequently, fresh energy is pumped into the chakra to expedite the rate of recovery of the body. These two steps help turnaround most ailments.
Pranic Healing teaches you to also use color prana or energy for the purpose of healing. If you would like to know more about Pranic Healing please visit here.
We address headaches we will typically need to treat the Crown, Forehead, Ajna, and Backhead minor chakras along with the entire head. For the secondary headaches, the underlying reason will also need treatment.
The Crown chakra is often defined as the center for cosmic consciousness and divine love but on the physical level, it governs the pineal gland and the brain. It is located on top of the crown. Headaches when caused by overactivity of the brain and problems with pain-sensitive parts of the head will need treatment of this chakra.
The Forehead chakra is not spoken about extensively but is an important major chakra. It is located on the center of the forehead and is the seat of wisdom and intuition. On the physical level, it regulates the pineal gland and nervous system. Thoroughly cleaning this chakra will bring relief to the nerves, therefore also to the pain. Treatment of this chakra will be important in both primary and secondary types of headaches.
The Ajna chakra sometimes also called the third-eye chakra is the will center for humans. It is located between the eyebrows. On the physical side, it controls the pituitary gland, the endocrine system, and all the vital organs of the body. It is also sometimes called the master chakra as it governs the functioning of the rest of the chakras. Therefore it is important to be treated.
The Backhead is a minor chakra located at the back of the head. It energizes the head, eyes, and jaws. This is again important for both primary and secondary headaches.
Migraines are often caused due to overworking of the solar plexus chakra and triggering of lower emotions like stress, worry, anger, etc. As a result, treating this chakra will be crucial in bringing substantial relief to a person with migraines. The solar plexus energy center is located at the hollow area between the ribs.
As stated earlier secondary headaches need treatment of underlying problems, for example,

· Cognitive-behavioral therapy. Mental health professionals who utilize CBT combine meditation and relaxation with behavioral education and coping skills for overcoming emotional difficulty. You may be able to avoid tension-type headaches and migraine headaches by mastering these skills.
· Acupuncture. Chinese medicine relies on acupuncture as an essential component to treat pain. During acupuncture treatment, thin needles are inserted in strategically placed points around your body. It can be helpful to relieve tension headaches and migraines.
· Biofeedback and relaxation. A biofeedback system may help prevent or relieve tension headaches by controlling how muscle groups react to stress.
· Osteopathy. A trained osteopath can manipulate the head, neck, and upper back with manipulation and soft tissue techniques. This can help relieve headaches. (Click here for the source)
